Photo privacy in kids’ story apps

September 4, 2026
How StoriBuk uses family photos to draw a cartoon cast — never as decoration, never on the public site — and how you delete them.

Why a photo at all

A cartoon that looks like your child has to start from something you provide. StoriBuk asks for a photo so we can draw that person. That is the only job the photo has. It is not a cover collage. It is not a social feed. It is not an ad.

What we do not do

We do not put family photos on storibuk.app. We do not use them to decorate the app. We do not sell them. Under our provider agreements, photos sent to draw characters are not used to train those providers’ models. Some story apps market a biometric face map so a photo-real child appears on every page. That is a different product. StoriBuk draws a cartoon. If you do not want a photo in the pipeline at all, you can still write characters from a description — the photo path is for likeness, not a requirement to read.

You approve the pages

Likeness is not the same as consent to publish. A parent approves every page before a child reads. If a drawing feels wrong, it does not go to bedtime. Shared read-only links expire. Discover cards, when you opt in, stay anonymous.

How to delete family data

Delete a character, a photo, or the whole account from Family. You can also use the account deletion page on this site or email [email protected]. We issue an erasure receipt. Backup copies clear on a rolling schedule after deletion. Read the Privacy Policy for the full list of processors (storage, sign-in, payments, print).
